Our Sunflower Celebration attracted an enthusiastic, albeit COVID-restrained, crowd this month. It’s a fixture on the annual calendar now so those who missed out can make a note for next year when it will be back bigger and better.

Of course the stunning Sunflower garden created by our dedicated horticulture team was the star attraction but the generosity of Tino Carnevale and Angus Stewart from ABC TV’s Gardening Australia as well as music by Les Coqs Incroyables, Emily Sanzaro and the Southside Steppers, and of course all our lovely and inquisitive guests, made the day a big success.

We must make special mention of our friends from NITA who opened the day with a smoking ceremony and welcome to country, then conducted a fascinating ‘bush tucker’ tour right there on Paddy’s Beach. They showed us how their people once thrived on the natural produce of the area and how those traditional food sources are now dwindling as the climate changes.

We continue to work with NITA to provide historical and cultural experiences for all our events at The Mill.
