What a start to ’21!

The second day of January was the sold out ‘Hair of the Dog’ event at the Mill. Delighted patrons consumed a roast pig and copious cocktails, while grooving with ‘Off ya Trolley’ DJ Hugo Bladel and reggae DJ Everton Smith.

See the action (skip in two and a half mins) …

Next up, MOFO at the Mill. We’ve invited a bunch of MOFO artists to sleep over on Monday 18 January for a short term ‘creatives in residence’. On Tuesday 19th at 5.30pm they present their reactions to the sights, sounds and history of Spring Bay Mill.

This one’s sold out but you can sign-up to a waiting list here.

And, not far away is the triumphant return of our annual Sunflower Celebration on Saturday 30 January, 10am-5pm. Last year tickets sold fast. This year numbers are COVID-restricted so better get booking soon … here

It must have been a romantic festive season because brides-to-be are flocking in with enquiries about making their ‘special day’ truly special at the Mill. Not surprisingly, Saturdays are in high demand and well, Saturdays don’t happen every day of the week, so the sunny months are filling up fast. If you have a wedding on the horizon, have a look at our all our romantic offerings and start a conversation with us.

‘River Islands’ is Yyan Ng (guitar, stomp, voice) and Emily Sheppard’s (violin, viola, voice) debut album, written in depths of caves, tree-houses and atop mountain summits. Hear their creative interpretation with guest Georgia Shine (cello, voice) in concert on 31 January in the Tin Shed, more here.

The Very Short Film Festival. Very Short means two to five minutes. Film means moving images of any kind – be they made on a phone or an old fashioned camera. Festival means hanging out with our sponsors including Guardian Australia, and being mentored by our judging panel members who are too famous to mention here right now. Enter online by the 23 April. Find out more details and prizes to be won, here.
