Through the immense generosity of hundreds of local, state and interstate supporters, the Tasmanian Land Conservancy (TLC) recently protected 150 hectares of critical habitat at Little Swanport.

Little Swanport Reserve now safeguards three threatened forest communities, including old-growth blue gum forests. These forests are so rarely seen today at this size on Tasmania’s east coast and are essential for providing the critically endangered swift parrot with food, shelter and breeding hollows.

The reserve also offers a haven to many other important species including the Tasmanian devil, Tasmanian bettong, eastern quoll, eastern barred bandicoot and the elusive spotted quail-thrush.

We want to celebrate this success with our supporters and the local Glamorgan Spring Bay community, and to thank donors personally for making the establishment of yet another vital conservation reserve in Tasmania possible.

This is a free event. If you wish to make a further donation in support of the TLC’s conservation work in Tasmania, donations will be gratefully received on the night.

Learn what makes Little Swanport Reserve and the surrounding catchment so special, from our speakers:

  •  James Hattam – CEO, Tasmanian Land Conservancy
  •  Debbie Wisby – Mayor, Glamorgan Spring Bay
  •  Melanie Kelly – Manager Natural Resources, Glamorgan Spring Bay Council

Our pals from Tombolo Woodfired Pizza will be on-site serving delicious pizza straight from their ovens. There will be pizza options for all dietary requirements. A fine range of Devil’s Corner Tasmanian wine will be served. Tasmanian beer, non-alcoholic punch and still water will be available as well. All drinks served for a gold coin donation per drink.

There will be plenty of onsite parking for those who wish to drive themselves to Spring Bay Mill. The TLC will be running a free courtesy return bus shuttle service between Hobart City and Spring Bay Mill for guests who register before 25 August. The bus will depart Hobart at 4.00pm sharp. So you can conveniently park your car before boarding, the bus will pick up all passengers from outside the 24 hour Vodaphone Central Parking Building in Bathurst Street, Hobart. You can request this service during the registration process.
