Join us for a 2 day photography workshop with Cam Blake on Maria Island

Workshop Dates: Friday 14 May – Sunday 16 May 2021

Spend two full days photographing the unique multi-faceted landscapes of Maria Island and Spring Bay Mill on the East Coast of Tasmania.

Steeped in layers of indigenous and colonial history, Maria Island is a uniquely preserved National Park with rare architectural and ecological sites. Distinct geology such as the Painted and Fossil Cliffs, historic buildings and ruins, and sweeping bays with miles of white sandy beaches offer up a bounty of stunning shapes and textures for this immersive photography experience.

This is a unique opportunity to have an exclusive experience of these two very special places while learning the secrets of professional landscape photography.

Package includes exclusive boat travel to Maria Island, stylish accommodation, delicious food and professional photography skills.

Highly acclaimed landscape photographer and experienced teacher Cam Blake, will coach you on professional techniques – from the basics to advanced skills – to capture the colours and light of this spectacular place. You will be shooting sunrise to sunset and even some night time astro photography if the weather is clear.

Based at the stunning Spring Bay Mill on the mainland, you will take their private vessel to the island each day and return in the evening for editing workshops and fantastic locally-sourced meals.

Spring Bay Mill is a wonder in itself. The 43 acre site has been up-cycled and restored from its industrial past as a wood chip mill, into a collection of inventively architectural indoor and outdoor spaces surrounded by acres of stunning coastal landscape.

Accommodation is a choice of either luxury Beach Eco Shacks with stunning sea-views and outdoor baths or cosy Glamping tents with comfortable queen beds and a communal amenities area.

Gourmet catering will encompass the best of local Tassie suppliers and organic produce from the Mill’s own gardens, and will be served either at Spring Bay Mill or as picnic lunches on Maria Island. The bar, of course, will be stocked with plenty of local Tassie wines, beers and spirits.

In addition to Cam’s expertise, you will be accompanied by Spring Bay Mill’s professional wilderness guide who will provide extra details about the history, flora and fauna of the area.
