And now that the kids are back carving their initials in their school desks, it’s time to plan for the next School Camp. Forget overseas travel. There’s plenty to explore in the wilds of Tasmania, right here at Spring Bay Mill and Maria Island. What could be a cooler combination than Gin & Jazz? Masterclass in gin sipping by East coast favourites The Splendid Gin and Spring Bay Distillery. Come for the gin, stay for the live jazz ’n’ cocktails with Dan Sandwich Trio, 7 November, 3pm.

And finally, a rare live appearance from canine comic First Dog on The Moon. The premier pooch himself, (aka Andrew Marlton) will be telling tales at our Wine & Words evening on Saturday 5 December. The wine will be something new and fresh, who knows where first dog will take us?
